Iguazu Falls are considered as one of the main world’s natural shows. The original inhabitants (guaranies) called them Iguazu, which means “Big Waters”.
The falls are shared between Argentina and Brazil, as the Iguazu River is at the border of these two countries. Iguazu Falls are protected, on both sides of this border, by national parks.
The area is surrounded by an ebullient forest, in one of the most biodiverse regions in South America. The visit to the falls start at the city of Puerto Iguazu (Argentina) and Foz do Iguaçú (Brazil). This area is known as the “Three Borders Landmark” because it is where the Iguazu River joins the Parana River (at the border for Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil). The falls are located within environmentally preserved areas (on the Argentine side the National Park Iguazu) and it is one of the most biodiverse in the country.
In 1985 UNESCO declared them “World Heritage Centre”.
The Falls can be visited from Argentina and from Brazil, but we advise you to make both visits: + See IGUAZU FALLS ARGENTINE SIDE | ![]() |
